I’ve always been baffled by the art of referencing. Just when I thought I was getting my head around finding suitable resources and information, along comes my formal education, marching in with a syllabus under its arm, enlightening me on its true purpose. But honestly, why must there be so many formats? Now they’re telling me I need to master APA7. Will I ever really get the hang of this? It feels like I’m on a mathematics degree with all this dots, comma, and brackets.

And then there’s the ‘reflective diary’ assignment. Scribbling down every thought and feeling as if my mind were a reality show worth binge-watching. They say reflective writing is like a mental mirror—it shows us the back of our own heads, revealing the mysteries of why we think the way we do. Fancy, right?

With all these academic hoops to jump through, I sometimes wonder if I should have just snagged a job instead of subjecting myself to this scholarly circus for the next few years. Ah, there goes my brain again, always ready with a spirited debate!
